Abeer Uz Zaman (AB) is a Bangladeshi journalist, political analyst, media professional, and PR & communication practitioner. His work stands at the intersection of journalism, political observation, public communication, and stakeholder engagement, reflecting a professional journey shaped by newsroom experience, analytical thinking, leadership practice, and communication-driven public engagement.

His commitment to journalism began in 2017, when, as a tenth-grade student, he witnessed the impact of a local investigative report that exposed long-standing corruption within his school’s managing committee. The issue was eventually resolved. That experience left a deep impression on him and revealed that journalism, when practiced ethically and courageously, can challenge injustice, restore accountability, and protect the public interest. From that point onward, he came to see journalism not merely as a profession, but as a civic responsibility.

Driven by that conviction, Abeer pursued formal studies in journalism and media. He earned admission to Jagannath University in the Bachelor of Social Science (BSS) in Mass Communication and Journalism program, where he developed his academic and professional foundation in journalism, media, and communication. He is currently pursuing a Master of Social Science (MSS) in Journalism, Media and Communication at Daffodil International University, Dhaka, continuing to strengthen both his theoretical understanding and practical engagement with media and public discourse.

During his university years, his understanding of journalism deepened through both study and reflection on governance, media, and public responsibility. He came to view journalism as a profession closely tied to truth, accountability, and democratic life. For him, journalism is inseparable from ethics, nation-building, and the moral responsibility of informing citizens with integrity.

Professionally, Abeer has worked across different parts of the media ecosystem, gaining experience in editorial work, reporting, newsroom support, field coordination, and public communication. He worked in editorial and assistant editorial roles at local and online newspapers and later served as Desk Reporter (International) at The Daily Inqilab, where he handled international news, multilingual source materials, research, rewriting, and editorial processing. This role sharpened his analytical ability, news judgment, and command over clarity, accuracy, and readability in reporting.

A major professional milestone in his journey came with his work for Reuters as Local Producer (TV) from January to March 2026. In that role, he contributed to field-level reporting support, communication, coordination, and real-time information flow in a demanding and high-pressure environment. Working in connection with one of the world’s most respected international news organizations strengthened his understanding of professional reporting standards, structured field coordination, and the discipline required in fast-moving political and media contexts.

Alongside journalism, Abeer has built a growing identity as a political analyst and media observer, especially in relation to elections, political messaging, media framing, social media narratives, and public perception in Bangladesh. His analytical interest is grounded in both theory and practice. He has closely observed how institutional media, ownership interests, ideology, and digital platforms influence political understanding. He is particularly interested in the contest between mainstream media and social media, the strategic construction of narratives, and the way public belief is shaped through tone, framing, and communication behavior.

At the same time, a substantial part of Abeer’s professional profile is rooted in PR, communication, and stakeholder engagement. He has experience in roles where communication strategy, coordination, relationship management, and message discipline were central. As PR & Communication Consultant at Hanif Enterprise, he supported stakeholder communication, coordination, reporting, and communication processes involving management, clients, and organizational activities. This experience strengthened his practical skills in communication planning, documentation, coordination, and message handling in sensitive or structured environments.

His communication-oriented profile extends beyond formal PR roles alone. Across student leadership, newsroom environments, advisory roles, and public-facing work, he has consistently operated in spaces where effective communication, representation, and strategic engagement matter. This has given him a strong foundation in public relations, strategic communication, media relations, communication support, stakeholder coordination, and public affairs-oriented work. It also explains why his professional branding today extends beyond journalism into communication-centered roles such as Press Officer, communication specialist, media liaison, PR, and public engagement positions.

Abeer’s profile is also deeply shaped by leadership and youth engagement. He currently serves as the General Secretary of the University Students Association of Bangladesh (USAB), where he contributes to national-level student engagement, communication across student groups, and youth leadership development. Before that, he was elected President of the Students Welfare Association of Jagannath University (SSWA) through direct voting, winning by a significant 115/004 margin. In that role, he led strategy, planning, student representation, team coordination, event execution, documentation, and internal communication. His leadership journey in the same organization also included earlier service as Organizing Secretary, Office Secretary, and General Member, reflecting a grounded and gradual path of organizational growth.

He further expanded his leadership and communication experience as the youngest Vice President of the Bangladesh Journalism Students Council (BJSC), where he contributed to leadership initiatives and communication-focused activities within student journalism networks. He also developed public speaking, argumentation, and facilitation skills through the MCJ Debating Club, strengthening his ability to engage with ideas, audiences, and structured discussion in both academic and public settings.

This leadership experience is not separate from his professional identity; rather, it is central to it. He is a youth leadership practitioner and communication professional with strong capability in mentoring, stakeholder coordination, public engagement, conflict resolution, critical thinking, peer collaboration, and team management. These strengths complement his journalism and PR background by giving him the ability to work not only with content and ideas, but also with people, institutions, and collective initiatives.

Abeer’s commitment to ethical communication is also reflected in his training and professional development. He completed Fact-Checking Training for Journalism Students under USAID, MRDI, and Internews in 2023, focusing on misinformation, verification, and media literacy in Bangladesh. He also pursued additional training and certification, including UNICEF’s Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and certification from UNHCR and IOM on the protection of migrants and refugees moving by sea. These experiences broadened his perspective on responsible communication, public-interest information, and the role of ethical awareness in professional practice.

What most clearly defines Abeer Uz Zaman’s work is the effort to bring together ethical journalism, analytical awareness of politics and media, and professional communication practice. He believes journalism must remain truthful and accountable, political analysis must remain observant and intellectually honest, and communication must be strategic without losing ethical responsibility. In his view, public communication should not be a tool of manipulation; it should be a means of clarity, trust, and meaningful public engagement.

His long-term professional interests therefore extend across journalism, political analysis, media monitoring, strategic communication, public affairs, advocacy, press and media relations, stakeholder engagement, and communication-focused roles in national and international institutions. Whether in a newsroom, a field reporting context, a student leadership platform, or a structured communication role, he brings the same core values: ethics over convenience, truth over distortion, and responsibility over spectacle.

At the heart of his personal and professional philosophy is a simple but demanding principle: the unethical use of a noble profession like journalism is not only a violation of journalistic ethics, but also a barrier to impartial and objective reporting. His academic path, professional experience, leadership practice, and communication work have all grown from that belief.

In essence, Abeer Uz Zaman is a professional blend of journalist, political-media observer, and PR & communication practitioner — someone committed to using words, ideas, and public communication in the service of truth, accountability, and responsible civic life.
